  • Thematic visit to the Alhambra: Women in Al-Andalus and Renaissance Granada

    We must not forget the presence of women throughout the history of Granada and the Alhambra. You will find out how the different periods and cultures affected women. From the strong constraints imposed by the medieval Islamic world to how women began to have more opportunities with the arrival of the Christians. During this guided tour we will take a look at the most important aspects of women's lives. These women belonged to different social classes, from the lowest social classes to strong figures such as Isabella I of Castile.

    This tour includes visits to:

    1. The Infants’ Tower (Torre de las Infantas)
    2. The Partal Chapel (Oratorio del Partal)
    3. The Partal Dwellings (Casas del Partal)
    4. The Rauda
    5. The Court of the Myrtles (Palacio de Comares)
    6. The Court of the Lions (Patio de los Leones)
    7. The harem
    8. The Queen´s Dressing Room (Peinador de la Reina)
    9. The Bañuelo
    10. Casa Horno de Oro
    11. El Salvador Church
    12. Santa Isabel la Real Convent

    Information about the tour

    This activity is available on Wednesdays. We will meet between 08.45 and 09.15 at the Alhambra Visitor Center and the Granavisión Meeting Point (Welcome Visitor Center). The trip starts at 09.30 and lasts approximately 4 hours.
